Playing DC 3 is as simple as 1-2-3. You are required to select numbers from 0 to 9, pick a wager amount and a bet type. You can find out more about the different methods of entry further down the page, but all you need to do to play is follow these steps:
You can wager $0.50 or $1 per play. The total cost is calculated by multiplying the number of draws by the wager amount.
Decide how to play – First Digit, Front Pair, Back Pair, Straight, Box or Straight/Box. The type of bet you choose will be displayed on your ticket to make it easier to check the results.
For most bet types, you have to choose three numbers from 0 to 9. Select your own or get a Quick Pick.
Decide whether to play the Day draw, the Evening draw, the Night draw, or all three. You can play the same numbers for up to seven consecutive draws, or pick a future day within the next week to take part.
You can also play up to five separate wagers on each playslip, if you want to boost your chances of winning by submitting several different sets of numbers. The cut-off time for ticket sales is 1:49 p.m., 7:49 p.m. or 11:29 p.m., just one minute before each drawing takes place.
The type of bet you pick determines your odds of winning and what prize you are playing for. Here’s more about what each type of wager means.
This splits a $1 wager in two, with $0.50 going on a Straight play and $0.50 on a Box. It is the only bet type where you cannot decide how much to stake – it is a fixed amount. The order you select the numbers is key if you are to win both parts of the wager, otherwise you can just win the Box prize if your numbers are drawn in a different order.
A Combo is a quick way of submitting multiple Straight wagers. Choose a 3-Way or a 6-Way play, but instead of saying those numbers will appear in any order, you are making a separate prediction for each combination on that being the exact order the numbers will be drawn in.
Pick two numbers instead of three – one each from the first two columns on your playslip. You are predicting that these two digits will be the first and second numbers to be drawn.
This is a bet on the last two winning numbers. You have to get them both in the correct positions.
To win, you have to match the winning numbers as required by your bet type. For example, if you play a Straight and the three numbers you select are drawn in a different order, the bet is lost. You must always match all the numbers you pick – there is no reward for getting two out of three. Go to the How to Win page to find out exactly what you need to do for each bet type, and to see how much you can win.
